About therapy
Supporting Your Mental Health
Life can feel overwhelming at times, whether just for a short time or as an ongoing struggle and sometimes you just can't do it on your own. You feel you should be able to cope - and you want to - but it doesn't seem possible.
The nature of therapy is to provide a safe, confidential, and supportive space in which a person can explore their thoughts, emotions, experiences and behaviours.
It is a collaborative process built on trust, empathy and understanding between the therapist and the client.
Its purpose is to help you:
Gain insight into yourself and your experiences
Understand patterns in your thoughts, feelings and behaviour
Work through emotional pain, confusion or distress
Develop healthier ways of coping and relating to others
Build self-awareness, resilience and emotional wellbeing
Therapy and counselling are not about giving advice or “fixing” someone.
Instead, they support people in making sense of their inner world, finding meaning in their experiences, and gently working through pain.
Ultimately, the aim is personal growth, healing and a greater sense of balance and agency in one’s life.
“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” — Maya Angelou
